Turning Sinners into Disciples

In Sunday’s Sunday school lesson, we took a deep look at the “controversial” calling of Matthew to be a disciple of Christ. Who can be saved? Who did Christ come to save?

We kicked off the new year with a really great Sunday school lesson! In this lesson, we are introduced to Levi (Matthew), the tax collector. Matthew is best known as one of the apostles of Christ and the writer of the gospel according to Matthew. However, like many of us, before becoming a disciple of Christ, Matthew had a history!

In today’s lesson, we take a deep look at the calling of Matthew to be a disciple of Christ. Matthew was a tax collector, thought to be a sinner because tax collectors were not highly thought of. Because of his potential history, the religious leaders were not supportive of his calling. Listen as we talk about who can be saved and who it is Jesus came to save!

This lesson is being taught from Luke 5:27-39.
